Adding Additional Files to a Creo View File
You can add additional viewables to the published Creo View file for the Technical Data Package.

Add various types of viewables to the structure tree node.

Viewables display specific groups on the Viewables tab.

Open in New View From the Viewables tab: Opens the viewable in a new window.

From the Structure tab: Select Items to Load dialog box.

Opens all selected viewables in new windows.

Adding Additional Files to a Creo View File
When you open a published MBD file in Creo View, the 3-D *.OL file launches into the viewing area. You can add additional viewables to the published Creo View file for the Technical Data Package.
To add additional viewables, select the Structure
tab in the Primary Panel. On the Structure tab, select the model node and click Add Viewable to Session
from the Structure Tree group. Finally, select the viewable to add.
3-D model files cannot be added to the selected node. The system automatically creates a new node in the Structure to append the viewable to.
Available File Types to Add
The following additional viewables can be added:

PTC Creo View — Add additional Creo View files, including PVS, ED, PVZ, EDZ, ZIP, and EDA files.

Creo/Pro — Add native Creo Parametric files, including PRT, ASM, DRW, REP, FRM, DGM, LAY, SEC, PIC, XPR, XAS, MFG, GPH, and CEM files.

Model — Add additional Creo View 3-D OL files.

Drawing — Add 2-D drawing files, including CGM, DWF, DWFX, DWG, DXF, HGL, HP2, HPG, HPGL, PLT, PGL, and GL2 files.

InterComm Bookmark File — Add IMX InterComm ECAD markup files.

Baseline IDX — Add IDX ECAD baseline files.

GERBER — Add ECAD GBR, PHO, and ART files.
-
Image — Add image files, including BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, C4, CG4, GP4, G4C, TIF, TIFF, and EMK files.

Illustration — Add CGM, ISO, ISOZ, IDR, and IDRZ files.

Document — Add Adobe PDF files.
-
Interference Results — Add Creo View PVC interference results files.
You can specify the desired viewable by selecting it from the Type drop-down list in the Open File dialog box.

tab. All viewables on this tab are grouped according to their type. By default, the Viewables tab only displays the Model group, as it contains the combination states for the 3-D model.

Image viewables are placed into the Image group.

PDF files are placed into the Document group.

Drawings are placed into the Drawing group.

Interference results are placed into the Interference Reports group.
To view these files, either double-click them from within the Viewables tab or right-click and select Open in New View. The viewable is launched into a new window in the viewing area, and a corresponding View tab is opened in the Primary Panel.
You can also open multiple viewables at once by selecting the Structure
tab from the Primary Panel. Right-click the structure node and select Open in New View. You can then select which associated viewables to open, and each selected viewable is opened in its own window in the viewing area.
Each view window also creates a view thumbnail within the thumbnail gallery area of the Views group, enabling you to switch between views, close views, or tile views within the viewing area.

Steps

Task 1. Add additional viewable files to a Creo View file. Start PTC Creo View and click Start to accept the licensing to launch the client.

From the Quick Access toolbar, click Open
. Browse to the MBD\TDP_Add-Files folder, and double-click BAR_LIGHT_CLAMP_F.PVZ to open it.

In the Primary Panel, select the Viewables
tab.

Notice the combination states for the 3-D model and note there are no additional viewables.

In the Primary Panel, select the Structure
tab.
-
Notice the single node for the 3-D model.
-
Click Add Viewable to Session
from the Structure Tree group.

In the Add Viewable dialog box, browse to the MBD\TDP_Add-Files folder. Select Image (*.bmp, *.gif, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.png, *.c4, *.cg4, *.gp4, *.g4c, *.tif, *.emk) from the Type drop-down list.

Select EAGLE2.TIF and click Open .

Click Add Viewable to Session

In the Add Viewable dialog box, browse to the MBD\TDP_Add-Files folder. Select Document (*.pdf) from the Type drop-down list.

Select MIL-A-8625F.PDF , press CTRL, and select QQ-250_5F.PDF .

Click Open .

In the open window, click OK > OK .

Select the Viewables
tab.

Notice that in addition to the Model group, there is now an Image group and a Document group.

Notice also the newly added viewable files in these groups.

Task 2. View the newly added files. On the Viewables tab, double-click MIL-A-8625F.PDF .

Notice that the PDF file launches in a new window in the viewing area.
To view PDFs, you must have a supported version of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat installed on your machine. Consult PTC’s Creo View Clients & Toolkits Software Matrix for a list of supported Adobe versions.

On the MIL-A—8625F.PDF tab of the Primary Panel, double-click Page 4 .

Notice that the system navigates to page 4 of the document.

From the Pages group in the ribbon, type 7 in the field and press ENTER.

Notice that the system navigates to page 7 of the document.

Click Find
from the Selection group.

In the Find dialog box, type coating in the Find field and click Find All .
-
Notice that all occurrences of coating are highlighted in the document.

Click Close in the Find dialog box.
-
Click Close view
from the Views group.
-
Select the Viewables
tab and double-click EAGLE2.TIF .
-
Click Split Screen
from the Views group and select the second square from the left, in the top row.

Notice that both views are tiled next to each other.
-
Click Close all views
from the Views group.

Click Yes in the Confirm All Views Closure dialog box.

In the Primary Panel, select the Structure
tab.

Right-click BAR_LIGHT_CLAMP_F.PRT and select Open in New View .

In the Select Items to Load dialog box, select all four check boxes. Click OK .

Notice that all four viewables opened in separate windows and are tiled in the viewing area.

Task 3. Save the modified Creo View file. Click File > Save As > Save All As PVZ .

In the Save As PVZ File dialog box, double-click the Output folder. Click Save .

Double-click the header of one of the viewing area windows to maximize it. The system created a new PVZ file that includes not only the 3-D model viewable, but a copy of the newly added image and document files.
