Creating a Technical Data Package
During the beginning phase of MBD model creation, it is important to consider how the data will be used downstream and by whom.
-
What device type will the data be viewed on?
-
How will it be delivered?
-
What level of computer skills do users have?

Figure 2 - Different Devices to View MBD Data On During the beginning phase of MBD model creation, it is important to consider how the data will be used downstream and by whom. This may impact how and what data is created. For example, data may be presented differently if it is known that the end consumer always uses a dual high-resolution monitor system. On the other end of the spectrum, data may be presented differently if the end consumer is an operator who is using a small, handheld device while wearing gloves.
Keep the following scenarios in mind during model creation; imagine an individual from procurement who no longer has a drawing, but still requires the size, shape, and type of raw material to order, or, an individual from a paint booth who needs to know which areas to mask off before painting the final product.
