Controlling Cross-Section Annotation Clipping

You can control the display behavior of annotations whose attachment or text is cut away by cross-sections.

  • Control both shown and created annotations.

  • Default behavior is hidden.

  • Detail option: show_clipped_annotations

Figure 3 - Showing Clipped Annotations You can control the display behavior of annotations whose attachment or text is cut away by cross-sections. By default, if one of the attachment references is cut away due to a cross-section, the annotation is hidden. This is not always desired, however.

Edit the drawing setup file option show_clipped_annotations to yes and the annotations will display even if the attachment reference is cut away. This option applies to both shown annotations and created annotations.

Steps

  • Task 1. Control the display of clipped annotations. Disable all Datum Display types.

  • In the ribbon, select the Annotate tab.

  • Select the 7A combination state tab. Figure

  • Right-click the 7A combined state tab and select Redefine .

  • Select A from the Cross section drop-down list. Click OK .

  • Notice the dimensions that no longer display. Figure The references specified for those dimensions are clipped, and therefore the dimensions no longer display.

  • Click File > Prepare > Model Properties .

  • If necessary, scroll to the bottom of the Model Properties dialog box and click change in the Detail Options row.

  • In the Options dialog box, type show_clipped_annotations in the Option field. Select yes from the Value drop-down list.

  • Click Add / Change > OK .

  • Click Close from the Model Properties dialog box.

  • Notice that the clipped dimensions display again. Figure
