Understanding Creo View File Formats
Creo View stores and uses various file types, including the following:
-
PVS file — The primary representation document for Creo View’s 3-D model. The PVS format stores the structure of a Creo View model in a binary format.
-
OL file — The primary graphics geometry from the MBD model. There is one OL file per assembly component.
-
PVA file — Stores an author state, or a combination state. There is one PVA file per combination state in the original MBD model.
-
PVP file — Stores properties for an associated Creo View model.
-
PVT file — Stores 3-D thumbnails that are used when viewing lightweight graphics representations in Creo Parametric.
-
PVZ file — A Creo View archive file encapsulating the PVS, PVP, PVA, and OL files into a single zip file. This file can be opened on a standalone basis without any additional files needed to resolve references. The PVZ file is a zip file that the system has renamed to PVZ.
-
ED file — Similar to PVS files, but stores product structure in a legacy ASCII format.
-
EDZ or EDP file — Older, legacy Creo View formats that store an Engineering Data Package consisting of compressed OL and ED files.
