Modifying Dimension Annotation Display
You can modify the display of dimensions in annotation elements and features.

Figure 3 - Deleted Dimensions You can modify the display of dimensions in annotation elements and features.

Move to Plane Select a dimension or dimensions, then right-click and select Move to Plane
to place them on a different plane. Move to Plane changes the z depth plane.

Current Orientation Select a dimension or dimensions, then right-click and select Current Orientation to launch the Annotation Plane dialog box. You can specify a different orientation location for the dimension by selecting a different reference plane or specifying a pre-existing saved model orientation.

Flip the dimension viewing direction (blue arrow).

Input a different angle for the dimension text rotation (red arrow).

Align dimensions Press CTRL and select dimensions to align, then right-click and select Align Dimensions . The first selected dimension is the anchor position, with the additionally selected dimensions snapping to alignment with the first dimension.

Erase and unerase Erasing dimensions temporarily removes them from the display. The dimensions are shown grayed out in the detail tree. Select a dimension or dimensions, then click Erase
from the mini toolbar.

Erased dimensions can be returned to the graphics window display by selecting and clicking Unerase
from the mini toolbar.

Delete Deleting a driving dimension removes it from the detail tree and graphics window. You can always add a driving dimension back to a combination state using Show Annotations
. To delete a driving dimension or dimensions, select them in the detail tree, and click Delete
from the mini toolbar.

Deleting a driven dimension removes it from the detail tree, graphics window, and Annotations node in the model tree. Deleted driven dimensions must be recreated.

Remove from State Remove a dimension from the current combined state by selecting the dimension or dimensions, and clicking Remove from State
from the mini toolbar or by clicking Remove from State
from the Manage Annotations group.

The dimension is still visible in any other combination states it was added to, and the dimension is still visible in the Annotations node in the model tree.

Steps

Task 1. Move a dimension to a different plane. Disable all Datum Display types.

In the ribbon, select the Annotate tab. Select the 7A combined state tab.

Select the 4.650 dimension.

Right-click and select Move to Plane
.

Select the rear model surface.

Task 2. Edit the current orientation for a dimension. Select the 4.650 dimension.

Right-click and select Current Orientation .
-
In the Annotation Plane dialog box, click Flip . Click OK .

Task 3. Erase dimensions. Select the 1.25 dimension. Click Erase
from the mini toolbar.

Click in the background to de-select all items.

Press CTRL, select the 2.210 , 1.500 , 3.000 , and R2.500 dimensions. Click Erase
from the mini toolbar.

Notice the dimensions still display in the detail tree with the icons grayed out.

Click in the background to de-select all items.

In the detail tree, press CTRL and select ad52 , ad50 , and DRV_DIM_D3 . Click Unerase
from the mini toolbar.

Click in the background to de-select all items.

Task 4. Delete dimensions. In the detail tree, select the DRV_DIM_D3 driving dimension and click Delete
from the mini toolbar. Notice that the dimension DRV_DIM_D3 no longer displays in the detail tree and the R2.500 dimension no longer displays on the model.
Because the R2.500 dimension is a driving dimension, you can always add it back to the combined state by clicking Show Annotations
from the Manage Annotations group.
- In the detail tree, select the ad53 driven dimension. Click Delete
from the mini toolbar.
Because the 1.500 dimension is a driven dimension, you need to recreate it if you want it in the combined state again.

Task 5. Remove a dimension from the active combination state. Select the 1.250 dimension. Select the Annotate tab.

Click Remove from State
from the Manage Annotations group.

Notice the dimension is removed from the detail tree and the model display.
