Figure 3 - Redefining a Combined State You can create combined states using different equivalent techniques. New combined states are created with a naming convention of Comb0001, Comb0002, Comb0003, and so on.
Once Annotate mode is activated (by selecting the Annotate tab), you can use the following icons to create combined states:

Click New
from the Combination States group.

Click New Combined State
in the combined state tabs at the bottom of the UI.
You can also create a combined state using the view manager:
- Select the All tab and click New .
When creating combined states using the view manager, you are presented with the following options:

Reference Originals — Select this option to create combined states for use with MBD.

Create Copies — Select this option when creating non-MBD combined states.
You can select and redefine a combined state to view its contents. Within each combined state, you can define the following:

Orientation — Select a saved view, or specify that the current model orientation be used as is.

Simplified representation — Enable a particular simplified rep.

Cross section — Display a specified cross-section.

Appearance — Display an appearance state.

Layers — Activate an existing layer state.
Terminology for combined states varies depending on the area of the UI you are working with. The following terms are equivalent:

Steps

Task 1. Create a combined state using the view manager. Disable all Datum Display types.

Click View Manager
from the In Graphics toolbar. Select the All tab.

Click New .

Type 7F and press ENTER.

Click Reference Originals .

Click Close .

Click Display Combined Views
from the Quick Access toolbar. Drag the 7F tab into position as shown.

Disable Display Combined Views
.

Task 2. Create a combined state using the Annotate ribbon tab. In the ribbon, select the Annotate tab. Click New
from the Combination States group.

Notice the created combined state.

Right-click the Comb0001 tab and select Rename . Type 7G as the name and press ENTER.

Drag to reorder the tab as shown.

Task 3. Create a combined state using the combined states tabs. Click New Combined State
in the combined state tab. Notice the created combined state.

Right-click the Comb0001 tab and select Rename . Type 7H as the name and press ENTER.
