Modifying Note Annotations

You can make modifications to notes and leaders in annotation elements and features.

  • Modifications include: Move to Plane

  • Current Orientation

  • Erase/Unerase

  • Delete

  • Remove from State

  • Move Text

  • Move Entire Note

  • Mod attachment point

  • Note type

Figure 3 - Additional Attachment Point Added You can make modifications to notes and leaders in annotation elements and features.

  • Move to Plane: Select a note or notes, then right-click and select Move to Plane Figure to place them on a different plane. Move to Plane changes the z depth plane.

  • Current Orientation: Select a note or notes, then right-click and select Current Orientation to launch the Annotation Plane dialog box. You can specify a different orientation location for the note by selecting a different reference plane or specifying a pre-existing saved model orientation.

  • Flip the note viewing direction (blue arrow).

  • Input a different angle for the note text rotation (red arrow).

  • Erase and unerase: Erasing notes temporarily removes them from the display. The notes are shown grayed out in the detail tree. Select a note or notes, then right-click and select Erase Figure .

  • Erased notes can be returned to the graphics window display by selecting and clicking Unerase Figure from the mini toolbar.

  • Delete: Deleting a driving note removes it from the detail tree and graphics window. You can always add a driving note back to a combination state using Show Annotations Figure . To delete a driving note or driven note, select them, and click Delete Figure from the mini toolbar.

  • Deleting a driven note removes it from the detail tree, graphics window, and Annotations node in the model tree. Deleted driven notes must be recreated.

  • Remove from State: Remove a note from the current combined state by selecting the note or notes, and clicking Remove from State Figure from the mini toolbar or by clicking Remove from State Figure from the Manage Annotations group.

  • The note is still visible in any other combination states it was added to, and the note is still visible in the Annotations node in the model tree.

  • Move Text: You can move the note text. Select the note, press CTRL, and drag the note text to a different location. The note leader elbow remains fixed and the text moves back and forth along the reading direction (red arrow).

  • Move Entire Note You can also move both the note text and leader line. Select the note, cursor over it, and drag both the note text and leader to a different location.

  • Mod attachment point: You can modify the attach point of the note leader using the following menu manager options: Same reference — Cursor over the leader endpoint and drag it to the new location on the same reference.

  • Change reference — Right-click in the graphics window and select Note Type > Leader . Select the new attachment point on the model, drag the note to the desired location, and middle-click to place the note.

  • Add Leader — Right-click and select Add Leader . Select an additional attachment point on the model.

  • Note Type: You can change the type of note by selecting the note, right-clicking, and selecting Note Type . Unattached Note Figure

Steps

  • Task 1. Move a note to a different plane. Disable all Datum Display types.

  • In the ribbon, select the Annotate tab. Select the 4_Notes combined state tab.

  • Select the model note, right-click, and select Current Orientation .

  • In the Annotation Plane dialog box, verify that Named Model Orientation is selected, and select RIGHT from the drop-down list. Click OK .

  • Task 2. Edit the current orientation for a note. Rotate the model approximately as shown. Figure

  • Select the note, right-click, and select Current Orientation .

  • In the Annotation Plane dialog box, click Flip . Edit the Text Rotation to 90 .

  • Click OK .

  • Task 3. Move the note text. Select the 1_Map combined state tab.

  • Select the 7A BASE PROFILE note. Figure

  • Cursor over one of the square note drag handles, press CTRL, and drag the note to the left of the leader elbow. Cursor over the leader elbow.

  • Notice the drag handle that displays.

  • Drag the handle to the right to extend the leader to the right.

  • Cursor over the note text and drag the note down and to the left of its previous location. Click in the background to complete the note.

  • Task 4. Modify the attachment point of the note leader. Select the 7A BASE PROFILE note.

  • Drag the leader line endpoint to a new location on the bottom surface. Figure

  • Right-click in the graphics window and select Note Type > Leader .

  • Select the front curved surface as the new attachment point reference. Figure

  • Drag the cursor out and middle-click to place the note. Figure

  • Select the 7A_BASE_PROFILE note.

  • Right-click and select Add Leader .

  • Query-select the flat surface on the underside of the model as an additional reference. Figure

  • Notice that there are now two leaders for the note. Figure
